Living Type · Design Lecture Series
Concept, typography and layout | 2014
This typographic poster was created for a fictional design lecture series about the contemporary type designer Adrian Frutiger. My design was driven by my fascination with his prolific grotesque sans typeface Univers and its versatility.
Concept
The versatility of the “Univers” of Frutiger.
Visual Strategy
The composition has a symmetrical balance to convey the stability that the Univers typeface has through its letterforms. Implied axial, different styles of the same typeface and the negative space around the design are all used to create to create harmony.
There is also unity through proximity and the repetition of colors and letterforms.
Connotation
Modern, urban and diverse.
