Bookbinding and handlettering | 2014, 2015, 2016
I really enjoy hands-on projects, especially when I can refer to ancient techniques and knowledge to make them come to life. I also love when I can spend my time with both details and concepts.
Bookbinding was where I found myself in love with the skeletons of books, their history, importance, development and how these things changed through the years. I find it fascinating how people changed the way books were bound over the years and how the books changed people.
In addition, handlettering has always grabbed my attention in how letterforms represent a sound, language, alphabets and how the typographical arrangement enables us to read within a specific  hierarchy. I love how letterforms have their own personality and voice, and that we are able to alter messages through the type structure.
